The foundation explained that it established the Shin Gyeok-ho Lotte Fallen Police Officer Hero Project to inherit and develop the spirit of sacrifice of fallen police officers and to boost the morale of police officers.

According to the foundation, the average number of approved police officer deaths in the line of duty from 2021 to 2023 was 14.6 cases per year. As of June this year, the number of approved deaths is 12. The foundation plans to provide a total of 200 million KRW, giving 10 million KRW each to 20 recipients. If the amount paid in a year is less than the standard scale, the remaining funds will be donated to the Police Agency's "100 Won Miracle" support project.

Meanwhile, the Lotte Foundation is conducting the Shin Gyeok-ho Lotte Patriot Scholarship Project and the Shin Gyeok-ho Lotte Crime Victim Family Support Project. The Lotte Patriot Scholarship is for children of national merit public officials who died or were injured while serving the country. Since 2015, this project has expanded its support to children of police officers, coast guards, and career military personnel, providing a cumulative total of 6.55 billion KRW.

The Shin Gyeok-ho Lotte Crime Victim Family Support Project started in 2019 targeting the Jeju region. It is a scholarship project aimed at preventing the breakup of low-income families due to crime victimization and ensuring the continuation of education during adolescence. Including this year's support plan, approximately 30 million KRW will be provided to a total of 117 recipients.

Jang Hye-seon, Chairperson of the Lotte Foundation, said, "I am very honored to be able to pay respect to the heroes who dedicate themselves to the country and its people in the name of my maternal grandfather," adding, "I hope to create meaningful support through our ongoing relationship with the Korean National Police Agency."
