The Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee announced on the 17th that Vice Chairman Joo Hyung-hwan will visit Japan's Child and Family Agency and Itochu Corporation from the 18th to the 20th to strengthen cooperation related to low birthrates and aging.


During the three-day visit, Vice Chairman Joo is scheduled to meet with Ayuko Kato, Commissioner of Japan's Child and Family Agency, to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries. He will also visit Setagaya Ward in Tokyo to observe how Japan's basic local governments are responding to low birthrates and aging, as well as efforts to overcome regional extinction.


Vice Chairman Joo will then visit Itochu Corporation located in Minato Ward, Tokyo. Itochu Corporation is known as a leading Japanese trading company and a family-friendly enterprise. There, he will have a meeting with Fumihiko Kobayashi, President and CEO of Itochu Corporation.


He will also visit sites addressing Japan's aging population. Vice Chairman Joo plans to visit a special elderly nursing facility (Tsurumakinoie) in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and senior housing (Cocofun) in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, to examine the possibility of applying these models in Korea.


Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with population experts such as Reiko Hayashi, Director of the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, Professor Shuichi Nakamura, and Professor Shintaro Yamaguchi of the University of Tokyo to discuss policy directions.
