When a person jumped off a bridge over the Han River, rescue teams, police, and ambulances arrived within minutes, and the scene was broadcast live on YouTube. On the 17th, an online community posted a message titled "It seems like someone jumped off the Han River on a YouTube Han River live channel." The YouTube channel "Daily Seoul Han River Live Cam" has been streaming live since December 8, 2021, allowing viewers to enjoy the scenery of the Han River accompanied by calm music.

The incident occurred on the 16th at 11:01:37 PM. Around 10:56 PM, a citizen got out of a taxi on the Han River bridge. The citizen then walked back and forth on the bridge, stopping repeatedly, and about six minutes later, climbed over the railing and fell into the Han River. Approximately one minute later, a marine rescue team that had been dispatched from a distance quickly arrived at the scene, and five minutes after that, ambulances and police cars arrived on the bridge. Ten minutes later, an ambulance also arrived under the bridge, and the situation was swiftly managed.

Previously, the live broadcast chat room had numerous comments comforting those who expressed that life was difficult. A netizen identified as A wrote, "What? Where? Don’t do it. Why? Are you going through something hard?" and added, "No, everyone has those moments. Don’t blame yourself too much." They continued, "Nothing in this world is more precious than life. It must be very hard, but I hope you reconsider."


The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters has established the "Han River Bridge CCTV Integrated Control Center," monitoring 572 CCTV cameras 24 hours a day. Using artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning technology, if abnormal behavior is detected, control personnel are alerted, and if a dangerous situation is found, the nearest water rescue team is dispatched.
