On the 17th, Governor Kim Tae-heum signed a business agreement at the Chungnam Provincial Government with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Boryeong Mayor Kim Dong-il, Chungnam Development Corporation President Kim Byung-geun, and SH Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation President Kim Heon-dong to promote the 'Seoul-Regional Win-Win Circulating Housing Project (Gold City)'.
Following Samcheok in Gangwon Province, Seoul City will establish a Gold City in Boryeong. The city is pushing the Gold City project, which provides new housing in regional areas to Seoul citizens wishing to start a new chapter outside Seoul, while Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation purchases or leases their homes in Seoul to re-supply them to young people and newlyweds.
Boryeong, selected as the second Gold City location, is considered the ideal place for a relaxed second chapter of life, with beautiful natural scenery combining mountains, fields, and the sea.
The province and Seoul City plan to build 3,000 new housing units as well as specialized facilities for tourism, leisure, healthcare, and education throughout Boryeong.
A preliminary survey conducted by Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation showed that 6 out of 10 respondents would support relocating to a regional area if good facilities in a good location were provided, raising expectations for the positive impact of Gold City.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, "When Gold City is established, various infrastructure and community facilities will be created, which will increase the population and revitalize the local economy. Gold City, in collaboration with Chungnam, which boasts outstanding natural scenery and cultural heritage, will become a leading example of win-win policy."
Governor Kim said, "The Gold City project will help solve multiple problems faced by regional areas, such as population decline. It will present a new model for win-win cooperation and population dispersal between Seoul and regional areas."
He added, "We will expand the Gold City project to other areas such as Taean, Seocheon, Cheongyang, and Gyeryong by utilizing Chungnam's natural scenery and geographical advantages. I hope not only Seoul citizens but also overseas Koreans, college students, international students, and those returning to farming or rural life will come and settle here."
