On the 17th, the Ministry of Environment announced this at Sejong Government Complex after signing a business agreement with the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Post, and Dongseo Food. The core of this agreement is to collect disposable coffee capsules that require separate disposal by utilizing Korea Post's logistics infrastructure.

According to the agreement, the Ministry of Environment will provide policy support to promote the separate disposal and recycling of disposable coffee capsules, Korea Post will establish a coffee capsule collection system using mailboxes and other facilities, and Dongseo Food will provide consumers with openers to separate the collected coffee capsule residues and dedicated bags to contain the waste.

Yoo Seung-kwang, Director of the Resource Circulation Bureau at the Ministry of Environment, said, “Coffee capsules are made of aluminum material, which is a high-value metal resource that can be recycled with high quality when separated from coffee grounds.” He added, “We will establish a new foundation for separate disposal and collection systems and strive to apply it to other items as well.”
