Earlier, the YouTube channel 'Pisik University,' operated by comedians Jung Jae-hyung, Kim Min-soo, and Lee Yong-joo, visited Yeongyang County in May and became embroiled in controversy over disparaging remarks about the region.
At a local restaurant serving baekban (set meals), they made harsh comments such as "The menu honestly lacks any distinctive features" and "The menu is meaningless, so you have to eat whatever is given." Regarding blueberry jelly purchased at a mart, they said it tasted like "grandma's flavor" and remarked, "It feels like I'm biting into grandma's flesh." They also said, "It's just not fun at all," and "The river looked pretty from above, but from below, it looked like sewage water," which sparked public criticism.
As the controversy grew, 'Pisik University' issued an apology, stating, "We sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt by our immaturity." They continued, "We deeply bow our heads and apologize to the residents of Yeongyang County who live their lives there," and added, "Although it has not been realized yet, we will continuously strive to find ways to correct our mistakes in some form in the future." Afterward, 'Pisik University' halted video uploads but resumed uploading on the 9th, about two months later.
