The prosecution has requested an arrest warrant for 'Jonbeo Kim,' known as the Coin King, who is suspected of embezzling a large sum of money through large-scale virtual asset price manipulation.
On the 17th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Virtual Asset Joint Investigation Team (led by Chief Prosecutor Park Geon-wook) announced that it had requested a pre-arrest warrant for Park, on charges including obstruction of business. Park's pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant substantive examination) is scheduled to be held at 2:30 p.m. on the same day, presided over by Chief Judge Maeng Hyun-moo at the Seoul Southern District Court.
Park is accused of issuing the scam coin 'Podo' in December 2020, artificially inflating its price through false promotion and price manipulation, and then selling it to ordinary investors on exchanges, earning approximately 21.6 billion KRW in profits.
Earlier, when Park was subject to a travel ban due to this case, he attempted to flee by boarding a 5-ton fishing boat at Gwiseong Port in Jindo-gun in December last year but was caught by the Coast Guard.
