632 Elementary, Middle, High, and Special Schools Launch 'Hakbumo Baeumhakgyo'
Supporting Child Growth and Development, Strengthening Home-School Connections
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is operating the 'Hakbumo Baeum School' to activate parent education programs led by individual schools for 632 elementary, middle, high, and special schools.
The 'Hakbumo Baeum School' aims to strengthen the connection between home and school by operating parent education programs led by schools, supporting effective growth and development of children.
The Office of Education is focusing on establishing a parent education system that considers children's developmental stages on-site and supporting substantial parent education through the operation of the 'Baeum School.'
First, the Office of Education expanded the 'Visiting Parent Classroom,' which had been operated by the main office until last year, to all schools in order to activate parent education. For this, each school will receive an operating budget of 1 million KRW.
In particular, to enable smooth operation of parent education at schools, a 'Parent Education Curriculum by Child Developmental Stage' was established, and a parent education instructor pool webpage called 'Hakbumo Gyoyuk Gangsa C.A.LL' was also created.
The 'Parent Education Curriculum by Child Developmental Stage,' developed since November last year by the 'Parent Education Activation T/F' team consisting of administrators and educational professionals from elementary, middle, high, and special schools, consists of seven curriculum areas for each school level. By specifying educational topics for each area, it is expected to greatly assist in selecting parent education content at schools.
'Hakbumo Gyoyuk Gangsa C.A.LL' is a one-stop webpage where schools can select, apply for, and evaluate parent instructors suitable for their circumstances. It features sample lectures on 232 topics by 87 parent instructors selected through open recruitment, providing convenience for schools in selecting parent education instructors.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of Busan, said, "'Hakbumo Baeum School' is operated to support proper child-rearing by parents," and added, "I hope this becomes an opportunity for parents to understand Busan education as key members of the educational community, cooperate with schools, and develop professional competencies in child-rearing."
