Happiness Alliance and SK Ino Provide Lunchboxes to 200 Children at Risk of Hunger in Ulsan

School Meal Service Suspended During Vacation... 10,000 Meals Over 10 Weeks
SK Inno Donates 60 Million Won, Ulsan Port Authority 20 Million Won

The social contribution network Happy Alliance announced on the 17th that it will support 10,000 lunchboxes over 10 weeks for 200 children at risk of food insecurity in Ulsan, in collaboration with SK Innovation Ulsan Complex (hereinafter Ulsan CLX) and Ulsan Port Authority.


This project was planned to support children at risk of food insecurity who have difficulty securing meals due to lack of care or economic reasons during school vacation periods when school meals are suspended. It is being promoted through public-private cooperation involving Happy Alliance’s Ulsan regional member companies, Ulsan City, and local social enterprises.


To promote the project, on the 16th at Ulsan City Hall, Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Park Jung-won, Head of External Cooperation at SK Innovation Ulsan CLX, Cho Min-young, Director of the Happy Alliance Secretariat (Happy Narae Co., Ltd.), Yang Ho-young, Secretary General of the Ulsan Community Chest of Korea, and Choi Jun, Secretary General of the Happy Lunchbox Social Cooperative, attended and signed a business agreement, pledging mutual cooperation to support children at risk of food insecurity.

According to the agreement, Ulsan City will identify and select 200 children in welfare blind spots within the city who are at risk of food insecurity during the vacation period as support recipients. The funding for the lunchboxes was raised through donations totaling 80 million KRW, with Ulsan CLX and Ulsan Port Authority each contributing 60 million KRW and 20 million KRW, respectively. The Ulsan Community Chest of Korea manages the donation funds and overall operation, while the social enterprise Happy Lunchbox Social Cooperative is responsible for preparing and delivering side dishes considering the nutrition of growing children.


Cho Min-young, Director of the Happy Alliance Secretariat (Happy Narae), said, "We hope this will help children who face difficulties due to the suspension of school meals and care gaps during the vacation to have a healthy and enjoyable break. Going forward, Happy Alliance will continue to strive to encourage more companies, local governments, and communities to take interest and unite in building a safety net for children at risk of food insecurity."


Happy Alliance is a social safety net created by 120 companies, 87 local governments, and 420,000 general citizens to build a happier world where even children who do not receive welfare benefits can be happy together. Happy Narae, the operating secretariat of Happy Alliance, is a purchasing service company established by SK, using all profits to create social value.
