Ponyjeong Foundation Holds Awards Ceremony
On the 16th, the PonyJeong Foundation held the '5th PonyJeong Young Leader Award Ceremony' at the PonyJeong Foundation Building in Sinmunno 2-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul, awarding this year's recipients, 9-dan Shin Jinseo and artist Jung Eunhye.

The ceremony was attended by the foundation's founder Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, Park Young-ja, wife of the late Honorary Chairman Chung Se-young, the awardees 9-dan Shin Jinseo and artist Jung Eunhye's families, among others.
Chung Mong-gyu, Chairman of the PonyJeong Foundation, said, "The PonyJeong Young Leader Award was established as the second PonyJeong Innovation Award to encourage young innovators who will lead the future of our era. Marking its 5th year, it is especially meaningful to select 9-dan Shin Jinseo, a professional Go player with outstanding skills and relentless effort, whose tomorrow is more promising than today, and artist and actress Jung Eunhye as this year's recipients."
9-dan Shin Jinseo said, "I am honored to receive such a meaningful award," adding, "I want to consistently achieve good results worthy of the name Young Leader and contribute to expanding the base of Korean Go."
Artist Jung Eunhye expressed, "I am grateful to my family and colleagues who have helped me so much," and said, "I want to continue working hard, communicate with more people, and engage in artistic activities healthily for a long time like my mother."

9-dan Shin Jinseo is known for his fast reading and fighting style. Since entering professional Go in 2012, he has won a total of 37 titles. In February, he led Korea to a dramatic victory in the 25th Nongshim Shin Ramyun Cup, a national team competition, by consecutively defeating five Chinese players and one Japanese player. He achieved his third overall win at the 28th LG Cup Chosun Ilbo King of Kings Tournament and secured a second consecutive victory in the 25th Maxim Coffee Best Player Championship, maintaining the No. 1 ranking in the Korea Baduk Association for 55 months with excellent results this year as well.
Artist Jung Eunhye is a representative outsider artist in Korea, working independently without formal education and unrelated to existing movements or schools, giving hope and courage to many and leading efforts to break social prejudices. With her unique clear energy, she has created caricatures of about 5,000 people since 2016. She continues active activities both domestically and internationally, including holding an exhibition in New York, USA, last year. In 2022, she appeared in the drama 'Our Blues' and the documentary 'Your Face.'
The PonyJeong Young Leader Award was newly established in 2020 as the 'second PonyJeong Innovation Award' to support young innovators. It was created to continue the innovation and challenging spirit of the late Chung Se-young, founder of Hyundai Motor Company and Honorary Chairman of HDC Group (formerly Hyundai Development Company). Two innovators under the age of 40 who have brought positive changes to society are selected and awarded a prize of 50 million KRW and a plaque.
