Lee Cheolwoo, Governor of North Gyeongsang Province: "If the ruling party, president, and party leader are not aligned, regime change will fail"

"Disappointment in Conservative Forces Over Deplorable Human Attack Tactics"
"Hoping for Patriotism and Party Loyalty from Fellow Party Members"

Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheolwoo expressed concern on the 17th, saying, "The ongoing People Power Party convention is displaying all sorts of disgraceful behaviors such as violent text message attacks and personal insults. Some candidates' fandoms, feeling slighted by certain National Assembly members, are resorting to unspeakable profanity and phone call attacks using YouTube, closely resembling the regrettable actions often seen in the opposition party. I worry that this convention could deeply disappoint the liberal conservative base and turn the party into one that is abandoned."

Through Facebook on this day, Governor Lee added, "I am even more concerned as memories of the ruling party in the past failing to regain power due to a rift between the president and the party leader overlap with the current situation. During President YS's era, the relationship with party leader Lee Hoi-chang soured, resulting in the loss of power, and during President Park Geun-hye's time, the deteriorating relationship with the party leader eventually led to impeachment and the devastating collapse of the liberal conservatives. These painful memories remain vivid."

Governor Lee continued, "If the president and the party leader fail to communicate once again, I am deeply concerned not only for the party but also for the future of the country. I hope that the candidates running in the convention will change their attitudes, and I look forward to the loyalty and patriotism of the party members who love the People Power Party to overcome these concerns."
