"Baseball King, Marines!" is a production jointly planned and produced by Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Cultural Center over the course of about two years, opening a new chapter as a new-concept sports musical that the whole family can enjoy together.

This selection was finalized at the "2024 K-Musical Market." The "2024 K-Musical Roadshow in Taipei" will take place at the Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC) Blue Box, a 500-seat theater in Taipei, Taiwan, over two days from November 13 to 14.

This event, now in its fourth year, has been held since 2021 to establish a foundation for the overseas expansion of original Korean musicals and to promote their distribution. It is hosted by the Arts Management Support Center and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea.

The musicals selected for this year's Dreaming Pitching Program are: ▲Jangsootang Seonnyeonim ▲The Last Man ▲Caffeine ▲Baseball King, Marines! ▲Yujin and Yujin, for a total of five programs.

With this selection, attention is focused on whether an original musical directly hosted and produced by the city will open a new horizon in the Asian market and establish itself in the global market.

Since 2022, the city has been promoting the "Youth Emerging Artists Incubating Project" to provide practical support for young artists in the Busan area, and "Baseball King, Marines!" was planned and produced as part of this initiative.

This project aims to provide local young artists with opportunities to collaborate with professionals on large-scale productions and to support a stable creative environment for young artists.

In particular, through this project, the city aims to foster emerging young artists by offering Busan youth opportunities to participate directly as actors and staff in various fields in the production of large-scale musicals, thereby supporting the expansion of the activity scope for local young artists.

This year as well, 11 young actors from the Busan area (with a competition rate of 4:1) were selected, and a total of over 30 local young artists, including those in planning, promotion, and stage arts, participated in the performance.

Kim Guiok, Director of the Youth-Industry-Academia Bureau of the city, said, "It is very meaningful that a creative musical, in which Busan's young artists participated and which the city promoted as part of its youth culture policy, will advance overseas. With this selection, I hope to widely promote 'Cultural City Busan' and that it will serve as a boon for strengthening the artistic capabilities and career development of Busan's youth, creating a virtuous cycle where local artists can enjoy and settle in Busan."
