Heavy Rain Advisory for Entire Seoul Metropolitan Area, Gangwon, and Chungnam Regions

In the early morning of the 17th, heavy rain with a maximum hourly rainfall of over 70mm is expected in the northern Gyeonggi region, prompting heavy rain advisory warnings across the entire Seoul metropolitan area, Chuncheon, Cheorwon, Hwacheon in Gangwon Province, and Taean, Dangjin, Seosan in Chungnam Province.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that by around 6 p.m., rainfall of 30-50mm per hour (with a maximum of over 60mm in the southern coast of Namhae) will pour in Busan, the southern coast of Gyeongnam, and the eastern part of Jeonnam; about 30mm per hour in Gwangju, western Jeonnam, Ulsan, and inland Gyeongnam; and 20-30mm per hour in southern Jeonbuk.
On the 17th, the central region will experience the monsoon rain, and on the 18th, the central region and Jeonbuk will be the main areas affected. Particularly, very heavy rain is expected in the central region in the early morning of the 17th.
From early morning to morning, heavy rain of 30-60mm per hour is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and inland/mountainous areas of Gangwon, and 20-30mm per hour in Chungcheong. In northern Gyeonggi, some areas may exceed 70mm per hour in rainfall.
The Seoul metropolitan area and inland/mountainous Gangwon will experience two more rounds of heavy rain after the early morning of the 17th, while Chungcheong will have one more round. The Seoul metropolitan area is expected to have concentrated heavy rain from the night of the 17th to the morning of the 18th and again on the night of the 18th; inland/mountainous Gangwon from early morning to morning and night of the 18th; and Chungcheong from early morning to morning of the 18th.
Expected rainfall until the 18th is 80-120mm in the Seoul metropolitan area and the five western islands (with northern Gyeonggi reaching over 250mm, and Seoul, Incheon, southern Gyeonggi, and the five western islands reaching over 150mm), 50-100mm in inland/mountainous Gangwon (with a maximum of over 150mm), 30-100mm in Chungcheong (with northern Chungnam and northern Chungbuk reaching over 120mm), 30-80mm in Honam, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and northern Gyeongbuk (with eastern Jeonnam and southern coast of Gyeongnam reaching over 100mm), 20-60mm on the eastern coast of Gangwon, 10-40mm in Daegu, southern Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, and around 5mm in the mountainous areas of Jeju.
The lowest temperatures on the morning of the 17th will range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperatures during the day will be between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Expected minimum and maximum temperatures in major cities are: Seoul 24°C and 27°C, Incheon 24°C and 26°C, Daejeon 24°C and 30°C, Gwangju and Daegu 25°C and 31°C, Ulsan 24°C and 30°C, and Busan 24°C and 28°C.
Fog will form over most seas, and strong winds blowing at 35-60 km/h (10-16 m/s) with waves 1.5-3.5 meters high are expected in the western offshore sea from early morning on the 17th, the central western offshore sea from the morning of the 17th, and the central eastern offshore sea from the morning of the 18th.
