Expanding Local Government Participation, Revitalizing a Region-Centered Manufacturing Innovation Ecosystem

Leading Digital Innovation... Gyeongbuk TP Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center Achieves Top Rating for 5 Consecutive Years Gyeongbuk Technopark.

This evaluation assessed the performance of the '2023 Smart Factory Distribution and Expansion Project' carried out by 19 regional Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centers (TPs) across the country, along with their implementation plans for 2024.

In this evaluation, the role of regional manufacturing innovation centers was emphasized, focusing on the 'New Digital Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Strategy (September 2023)' beyond just supporting smart factory construction.

Despite a reduction in the smart factory support budget last year, the Gyeongbuk Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center facilitated the creation of demand companies, secured local government budgets, and contributed to the digital transformation and competitiveness enhancement of local businesses.

In particular, the center secured additional funding through various projects, such as supply chain-linked smart factories (2 billion KRW), K-Smart and large-scale factories (800 million KRW), R&D (100 million KRW), and digital twin-based innovation service demonstration projects (1.86 billion KRW).

Additionally, 2 billion KRW was further secured by discovering support projects linked to smart factory construction support.

Last year, 3.45 billion KRW of local government budget was provided to local companies, and an additional 2.5 billion KRW has been secured to support basic local government projects in 2024, contributing to the digital transformation and competitiveness enhancement of local companies as a regional hub support organization.

Ha Inseong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, said, "We will contribute to the creation of a Gyeongbuk-style smart manufacturing innovation ecosystem through continuous support, from basic-level assistance to advanced and leading factories in the region."

This year's local government basic smart factory project is scheduled to recruit participants in the second half of the year, and updates can be found on the Gyeongbuk Technopark website and KakaoTalk channel.
