Korea Rail Network Authority and Suwon City to Begin Design of 'Guun Station' Building in Second Half of This Year

The Korea Rail Network Authority and Suwon Special City will begin the design of Guun Station's building in the second half of this year.

On the 16th, the Rail Network Authority announced that it signed a consignment agreement with Suwon City for the construction of Guun Station as part of the Shinbundang Line extension project from Gwanggyo to Homaesil.

According to the agreement, the Rail Network Authority will be responsible for the design and construction of the new station building, while Suwon City will handle the project budget and permits.

Guun Station will be newly established between Hwaseo Station and Homaesil Station, expected to improve transportation conditions for residents in the western Suwon area. The establishment of Guun Station was confirmed on May 17 as part of the Shinbundang Line Gwanggyo-Homaesil construction phase.

Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Rail Network Authority, stated, “We will promptly complete the administrative procedures so that the design of Guun Station can begin in the second half of this year,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that Guun Station opens in line with the scheduled opening of the Shinbundang Line Gwanggyo-Homaesil in 2029.”
