Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance, a financial affiliate of Taekwang Group, announced on the 16th that the number of subscribers to the ‘Surgical Expense Coverage for 48 Diseases’ special contract has surpassed 6,000.
In the three months since the special contract was launched (April 1 to June 30), the total number of new subscribers to insurance products equipped with this special contract reached 23,213. Among them, 6,123 chose the ‘Surgical Expense Coverage for 48 Diseases’ special contract, recording a subscription rate of 26.4%. Considering that there are more than 500 special contracts available to choose from when subscribing to a single insurance product, this is an unusually high figure.
The ‘48 diseases’ include benign tumors, inflammatory diseases, and dysplasia, where cells abnormally transform. If surgery is performed for diseases covered under this category, surgical expenses ranging from a minimum of 300,000 KRW to a maximum of 5,000,000 KRW can be paid according to classification standards.
Benign tumors refer to myomas, polyps, adenomas, cysts, and nodules. This includes diseases commonly known as ‘uterine cysts,’ ‘ovarian cysts,’ and ‘breast cysts,’ as well as meningiomas, colon polyps, gastric adenomas, benign prostatic tumors, and thyroid nodules. Inflammatory diseases include cirrhosis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, cholangitis (gallbladder inflammation), and chronic pancreatitis. Dysplasia includes cervical dysplasia and prostatic dysplasia, which are part of the ‘48 diseases.’
Some of these diseases have a high potential to develop into cancer. For example, patients with ulcerative colitis have a risk of developing colon cancer more than 10 times higher than the general population, and Crohn’s disease patients have a risk 4 to 7 times higher. In the case of ‘familial adenomatous polyposis’ (familial adenomatous colon polyposis), a type of colon polyp, the probability of progressing to cancer in adulthood is very high.
It is known that 80% of liver cancer patients have cirrhosis (hepatic cirrhosis), and chronic pancreatitis is identified as one of the risk factors for pancreatic cancer. Cervical dysplasia caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection can sometimes progress to cervical cancer.
The surgical expense coverage special contract for 48 diseases was first developed and is exclusively sold by Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance, currently embedded in a total of seven products. It was first introduced in April in the ▲HeungGood All-Inclusive Cancer Insurance PLUS, and later included in ▲HeungGood All-Inclusive Women’s MZ Insurance ▲HeungGood Simple 6090 Youth Insurance ▲Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance Strong 325 Simple Comprehensive Insurance ▲Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance Strong 335 Simple Comprehensive Insurance ▲Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance Strong 355 Simple Comprehensive Insurance ▲HeungGood The Healthy Comprehensive Insurance.
Notably, the ‘Women’s MZ Insurance’ showed the highest subscription rate, with nearly half (44.6%) of subscribers choosing this special contract. Since this product offers a ‘mother-daughter subscription discount’ for mothers under 50 and daughters over 5 years old, it is highly likely that they subscribed simultaneously with the same coverage.
A representative from Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance stated, “We will continue to strive tirelessly to introduce competitive products and pioneering special contracts.”
