Kia unveiled a teaser video on the 16th showcasing the development of the pickup truck 'Tasman,' which will be launched in the global market in the second half of next year.
The title of the video capturing the development process of Kia's first-ever pickup truck, Tasman, is 'One More Round.' This video highlights Tasman's adventurous spirit of "challenging to surpass higher standards every day." Kia incorporated the behind-the-scenes story of Tasman's creation, which underwent more than 18,000 rigorous tests. The full video will be gradually released on Kia's YouTube channel and brand website starting from the 22nd of this month.
To enhance the completeness of the Tasman, Kia has been conducting harsh tests over four years across various regions including South Korea, the United States, Sweden, Australia, and the Middle East. The types of tests include ▲off-road specialized performance tests such as Rock and Sand modes ▲durability tests ▲R&H (Ride & Handling) tests ▲trailing stability tests ▲wading tests, totaling an impressive 1,777 types. As of the filming of the One More Round video (May 2024), the cumulative number of tests reached 18,000.
Kia plans to release the One More Round video series sequentially from the 22nd through October, consisting of ▲off-road test episode ▲wading test episode ▲track test episode ▲Australian real-road test episode for durability improvement and regional optimization ▲and interviews with development researchers.
The name Tasman is derived from Tasmania, an island located at the southernmost tip of Australia, and the Tasman Sea. Kia also revealed a camouflaged model of the Tasman at the Busan Mobility Show last June. Kia plans to hold a world premiere event in the second half of the year to fully unveil the Tasman to the public for the first time worldwide. Starting in the first half of 2025, the vehicle will be sequentially launched and sold in domestic, Australian, African, and Middle Eastern markets.
