LH, ArtsStay and Other Specialized Purchase Rental Housing Public Offering

Planned at a total scale of 3,000 households this year

Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has launched a recruitment drive for project operators to supply 3,000 specialized purchase rental housing units this year.

LH announced on the 16th that it will recruit project operators for three days starting from the 23rd. Specialized purchase rental housing refers to rental homes proposed and constructed by private operators with spaces and services tailored to the characteristics of tenants, which are then purchased by the public sector and rented out at affordable prices. Representative specialized purchase rental housing includes Arts Stay (Yeongdeungpo, Seoul), supporting youth in arts and startups, and Dadareum House (Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul), which helps the independence of persons with disabilities. This year’s recruitment increased by 1,000 units from 2,000 units last year.

This recruitment will be conducted in two ways: ‘private proposal type’ and ‘specific proposal type.’ The target by type is 1,300 units for the private proposal type and 1,700 units for the specific proposal type. The ‘private proposal type’ allows private operators to freely propose various themes such as care and childcare, job and startup support, and returning to farming or rural areas. The ‘specific proposal type’ involves private operators planning and constructing customized housing according to pre-planned housing operation themes developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Health and Welfare based on various government policies.

Support housing for artists and athletes will be conducted targeting the metropolitan area and major cities, considering areas densely populated by young artists, with 360 units being recruited.

Support housing for the independence of persons with disabilities will recruit 340 units targeting local governments participating in the ‘Pilot Project for Community Independence Support for Persons with Disabilities’ (such as Uiwang and Jeju). Newly introduced this year, support housing for the independence of persons with mental disabilities will be open for recruitment nationwide.

Specialized housing for the elderly will recruit a total of 1,000 units targeting local governments conducting the ‘Pilot Project for Integrated Medical and Care Support for the Elderly’ (such as Chuncheon and Jincheon) as well as the metropolitan area and major cities.

Applications can be submitted by mail or in person from the 23rd to the 25th of this month. Applicants must submit project application forms, design drawings, and related documents. After document screening next month, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted by the end of September, and the final results will be announced. Subsequently, contracts will be signed in October following appraisal evaluations.

Ko Byung-wook, head of LH’s Housing Welfare Headquarters, said, "Specialized purchase rental housing can present new housing models tailored to the housing needs of various tenant groups such as youth, artists, persons with disabilities, and the elderly," adding, "We look forward to the active participation of private operators with creative ideas and excellent capabilities."
