Gathering Opinions from Companies Located in Mapo-gu, Seoul
On the 16th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor visited the workplace of young people with borderline intelligence to encourage them and listen to their opinions.
The work-learning program participated in by the youth is part of the "Borderline Intelligence Youth Work Competency Enhancement and Work-Learning Research Project," promoted by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Employment Development Institute in collaboration with Seoul City and the Youth Foundation. This is a specialized employment support program for young people with borderline intelligence, introduced for the first time this year. In March and May, a total of 117 young people were recruited and are undergoing customized career counseling and vocational training tailored to their needs as part of the work-learning process.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor visited the work-learning company "IUAI" located in Mapo-gu, Seoul. IUAI distributes mixed reality (XR) lenses and produces XR content. The site includes young people with borderline intelligence and work-learning managers. Lim Young-mi, Director General of Integrated Employment Policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Cho Yoon-kyung, Director of the Employment Development Institute at the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, gathered opinions from the work-learning participants and stakeholders on-site and shared directions for policy support.
Director Lim said, "Recently, a cross-ministerial support plan for people with borderline intelligence was announced, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor is also preparing employment support policies," adding, "we will support young people with borderline intelligence to achieve healthy social growth through employment."
