Biden: "Vance is a Trump replica... Will push for middle-class tax hikes"

U.S. President Joe Biden launched an offensive on the 15th (local time) against Senator J.D. Vance, the vice-presidential candidate chosen by former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee.

President Biden posted on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) immediately after former President Trump officially announced Vance as his vice-presidential pick, saying, "Let's learn about J.D. Vance."

President Biden criticized, "Vance talks about the working class, but now he wants to work with Trump to raise taxes on the middle class and cut taxes for the wealthy."

He added, "I have no intention of letting them do that," and "This is the time for you to pick up the pace with me." He also shared a link to his campaign fundraising page.

Before boarding Air Force One to visit Las Vegas, President Biden told reporters, "Vance is a replica of Trump on issues," and said, "I see no difference."

On the 13th, after former President Trump was hit in the ear by a bullet fired by 20-year-old white male Thomas Matthew Crooks during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, President Biden urged restraint in the heated election atmosphere and emphasized unity. This marked the resumption of his offensive against the Republicans two days after the shooting incident.

In two national addresses through the previous day, President Biden said, "We need to lower the temperature of (heated) politics. We are not enemies," and "The political rhetoric in this country is too heated, and now is the time to cool it down."
