A man in his 40s who instructed a parking attendant with an intellectual disability to commit murder has had the prosecution appeal after receiving a 27-year prison sentence in the first trial.
On the 15th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office trial division (Chief Prosecutor Choi Seon-gyeong) announced that it has filed an appeal against the first trial verdict for Jo (45), who was indicted and detained on charges including murder instruction.
Jo is accused of defrauding approximately 70 million won by not paying wages while entrusting Kim (33) with parking lot management, and instructing Kim to kill an octogenarian building owner with whom he was involved in lease and redevelopment disputes.
The prosecution stated the reason for the appeal, saying, "Despite instructing an intellectually disabled person who trusted him like family to brutally murder an elderly victim, Jo has completely denied the crime and shown no remorse. Considering the victims' families' plea for severe punishment, a harsher sentence is necessary."
