Jang Ho-jin, Director of the National Security Office, held a meeting on the afternoon of the 15th at the Presidential Office with Winston Peters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, who is visiting Korea, the Presidential Office announced.
Director Jang and Deputy Prime Minister Peters agreed that as like-minded countries in the Indo-Pacific region, both nations should cooperate together to uphold peace, stability, and a rules-based order in the region.
Director Jang expressed gratitude to New Zealand for playing an important role as the chair country of the Indo-Pacific Partners 4 (IP4) summit meeting during the recent Washington NATO summit, including the announcement of the joint IP4 leaders' statement related to Russia-North Korea cooperation.
Both sides also agreed on the importance of a unified response from the international community.
The Presidential Office stated that Director Jang and Deputy Prime Minister Peters exchanged views on cooperation measures to strengthen and develop the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.
