Busan Port Authority (BPA) carried out a Samgyetang meal kit sharing and meal service volunteering activity for residents from vulnerable groups in the local community.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) supported vulnerable local community residents with Samgyetang meal kits to celebrate the start of the hottest summer period.
On this day, to mark Chobok (the first of the three hottest days in summer), new BPA employees volunteered to serve Samgyetang at the Yeongdo-gu Dongsam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, which is the first branch of the 'BPA Hope Pantry.'
They served about 200 portions of Samgyetang to local residents who visited the Hope Pantry, and also delivered meals directly to the homes of seniors with mobility difficulties, taking time to check in and communicate with them.
Prior to this, from July 11 to 12, BPA donated 3,000 servings of Samgyetang meal kits to 16 BPA Hope Pantry locations set up in port-adjacent areas of Busan and Gyeongnam.
These meal kits were provided to vulnerable groups, such as seniors living alone, through the Hope Pantry.
BPA purchased the donated meal kits from the Daejeo Nonghyup Local Food Direct Store, thereby contributing to revitalizing the local economy and reducing the carbon footprint.
Kang Junseok, President of BPA, said, "I hope the Samgyetang sharing event has provided even a small help for vulnerable residents to stay healthy during the summer," and added, "We will continue to carry out various social contribution activities and grow together with the local community as BPA."
