Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians Conduct Environmental Cleanup Around Neolithic Site at Huporti Deungisan Uljin Geobeolmo Cultural Heritage Guardians conducted environmental maintenance activities around the Neolithic site in Hupo-ri, Deungisan, Uljin.

The Uljin Hupori Neolithic Site, located at the summit of Deungisan, was discovered in 1983 during the construction of an access road to the Deungisan Senior Center, when stone axes and other artifacts were found. The National Gyeongju Museum conducted an excavation and uncovered a large number of stone axes and human remains. It was revealed to be a group burial site for more than 40 individuals from the Neolithic era, making it a rare and historically significant site even by global standards.

Subsequently, Uljin County conducted two additional excavations at this site in 2014 and built the Uljin Hupori Heritage Exhibition Hall near the site in 2016 to provide information about the region's buried heritage.

On this day, despite inclement weather, about 20 members of the Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians visited Huopo Deungisan and carried out cleanup activities around the Hupori Neolithic site and the exhibition hall.

The Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians was established on May 1, 2023, and has been actively fulfilling its role as an official guardian of Uljin's national heritage by visiting local cultural heritage sites and conducting environmental cleanup activities in the surrounding areas once a month.

County Governor Son Byeongbok expressed his gratitude and encouragement to the Cultural Heritage Guardians members for their efforts in preserving national heritage, and requested their continued dedication to promoting Uljin's cultural heritage and maintaining the surrounding environment.
