The volunteer firefighters serving as waterfront safety personnel are responsible for water safety in the Jeju area through safety patrols around the beaches, supporting situation rooms, and promoting first aid methods to vacationers.
The Jeju Volunteer Fire Brigade Association urged the waterfront safety personnel to work with safety in mind and requested their continued efforts as part of Jeju Fire Department to achieve "zero water-related fatalities."
Kim Bong-min and Lee Mi-kyung, presidents of the association, stated, "Volunteer firefighters are guardians responsible for community safety," adding, "We will enhance our expertise through systematic training and fully fulfill our role as assistants in firefighting duties."
