3-Year Term, Kim Baek-gi Former JTBC Social Affairs Chief Appointed as Public Corruption Investigation Office Spokesperson
Kim Baek-gi, the new spokesperson of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials.
The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HCIA) appointed Kim Baek-gi, former head of JTBC's Social Affairs Department, as its new spokesperson effective July 15, 2024.
Spokesperson Kim Baek-gi will handle the HCIA's case publicity, media relations, and public relations duties during his three-year term. Kim has worked as a social affairs reporter for over 20 years in media and broadcasting sectors including JoongAng Ilbo and JTBC, and has served as head of JTBC's Social Affairs Department and Social Affairs Division 1.
Since June, the HCIA has been conducting an open competitive recruitment for the spokesperson position to bring in external experts.
Oh Dong-woon, head of the HCIA, stated, "Spokesperson Kim is an expert who has faithfully delivered news to the public with professionalism in the media field," adding, "The HCIA will do its best to provide publicity that meets the public's expectations regarding investigations into crimes by high-ranking officials."
