'Looking for Master Artisans'... Ulsan City Seeks Skilled Technicians for Hall of Fame

Up to 5 Selected from 92 Occupations Including Mechanical Design

Benefits Include Master Craftsman Certificate and Technical Incentives

Ulsan City will select the "2024 Ulsan Metropolitan City Master Craftsperson."

The candidates are skilled technicians who have worked in the same field and occupation for over 15 years at local industrial sites, contributing to the advancement and status of skilled technology.

The selection covers 92 occupations in 38 fields, including mechanical design, mold making, and material development, with up to five individuals to be chosen.

The selected individuals will receive a master craftsperson certificate and plaque, as well as an annual technology incentive of 2 million won per person for five years.

Additionally, their names will be listed in the "Ulsan Metropolitan City Master Craftsperson Hall of Fame" on the second floor of the Workers’ Comprehensive Welfare Center.

The selection process includes gathering citizen opinions and committee evaluations (document review, on-site inspection, interview, and final assessment).

Applicants for Ulsan Metropolitan City Master Craftsperson must be recommended by the head of a district office, county office, a company based in Ulsan, a city-level industry association, or the head of a nonprofit organization or group related to skilled technology.

The application period is from the 15th to August 9, and applications can be submitted in person to the Economic Policy Office at Ulsan City Hall or by registered mail.

An Ulsan City official stated, "Skilled technicians have played a significant role in establishing Ulsan as the industrial capital of Korea. Since the program began in 2015, a total of 38 skilled technicians have been selected as master craftspersons. We will continue to provide extensive support alongside the master craftsperson selection to boost the pride of local skilled technicians."
