'Cancer Battling' British Crown Princess Makes Surprise Appearance at Wimbledon Final, Even Presents Award

One Month After King Charles III's Birthday Event Last Month

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales who is battling cancer, attended the Wimbledon tennis final and personally presented the trophy to the winner. This marked her first public appearance in a month since attending the birthday event of her father-in-law, King Charles III, last month.

On the 14th (local time) at around 1:40 PM, the Princess of Wales arrived at the All England Club in London with her daughter, Princess Charlotte (9), to watch the men's singles final and took a seat in the Royal Box. As the Princess of Wales entered the Royal Box, the entire audience stood up and applauded. The Princess smiled brightly and waved in response. Hollywood star Tom Cruise, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and former tennis player Andre Agassi were also seated in the Royal Box.

In the men's singles final that day, Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) and Novak Djokovic (Serbia) faced each other for the second consecutive year. Alcaraz won all three early sets, defeating Djokovic once again to claim victory. Once the winner was decided, the Princess of Wales immediately went down to the court and presented trophies to both players.

The Princess of Wales inherited the official patronage role of the All England Club from Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 and has personally presented trophies to the men's and women's singles champions at Wimbledon every year since. However, she did not attend the women's singles final held the day before.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery and was hospitalized in January this year, after which she did not engage in public duties, sparking rumors about her health and marital discord. In March, she personally shared the news of her cancer battle through a video. She refrained from all public duties until she appeared in public for the first time in six months at the Trooping the Colour, the official birthday ceremony of King Charles III, on the 15th of last month. The Princess issued a statement last month regarding her health, saying, "I am making significant progress. Anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows there are good days and bad days."
