Self-Employed Business Owner Served Large Portions to Group of 22 Guests
Customers Got Angry After Meal... "No Conscience"
A story has been shared about a self-employed business owner who was criticized after providing service to a group of customers who visited their store.
On the 12th, a post titled "I was called heartless for giving a large portion" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, who revealed that he runs a small Chinese restaurant in a rural area, began by saying, "Before opening on Sunday, I received a call asking if about 22 people could fit in the store. Since the store is small and usually has a long waiting list, we generally do not take reservations, but because it was a group, we secured some seats."
According to Mr. A, around 11 a.m. that day, about twenty customers, including adults and children, visited the restaurant. The group ordered 17 adult meals, excluding the children. Mr. A explained, "Our store is famous for a set menu sold at 13,000 won per person. They ordered four set menus and the rest were ? la carte items."
The problem arose when they finished eating and were about to pay. A woman among the group got angry at Mr. A, saying, "You didn’t inform us in advance even though the portions were this large." She reportedly verbally abused Mr. A, saying, "There was too much food because we ordered by the number of people, and it was left over. The owner is running the business without any conscience."
Mr. A said, "I intentionally served generously so that they could share with the children," and added, "Most customers apologize saying, 'We didn’t leave food because it was bad, but because the portions were too large. Sorry,' but this person shouted and got angry sincerely, which surprised me." He candidly shared, "I have been in business for about 10 years, but this is the first time I’ve been called 'heartless' for giving large portions. There really are all kinds of customers."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Now they’re complaining about getting more food," "They didn’t even order for the kids but are making a fuss," "That kind of person probably doesn’t realize they’re being difficult," "I honestly don’t understand what part made them angry. If they’re mad about getting more food, there must be a problem," and "This person seems to have a lot of anger."
