LG Electronics Establishes 'Air Solution Research Center' in Germany Targeting Europe... Strengthening HVAC Business

Research and Development of High-Efficiency HVAC Solutions Tailored for the European Market
From HVAC R&D to Sales, Maintenance, and Repair
Establishing a 'Local Completion System'
European HVAC Market Estimated at Approximately $13 Billion

LG Electronics has established an 'Air Solution Research Center' in Europe, following South Korea and the United States. Through this research center, LG Electronics is expected to strengthen its capabilities in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business, a key pillar of its business-to-business (B2B) operations, and actively target the European market.

On the 15th, LG Electronics announced that it had established the Air Solution Research Center in Frankfurt, Germany, to develop customized high-efficiency air conditioning solutions optimized for the local European climate. This is LG Electronics' third global Air Solution Research Center, following Changwon in South Korea and Atlanta in the United States.

The research center spans 1,000㎡ (approximately 400 pyeong) and plans to create differentiated quality by installing and testing various new HVAC products for residential, commercial, and industrial use in real-use environments tailored to the European market.

The European Air Solution Research Center also operates the 'European Advanced Heat Pump Research Consortium,' launched last month to develop heat pumps that deliver top-level heating performance even in the severe cold of Northern Europe. Additionally, it will recruit and nurture outstanding local talent in various fields such as heat pumps and smart homes, serving as a forward base for the rapidly growing European HVAC market.

Europe's HVAC business has recently grown significantly due to carbon-neutral energy policies. In particular, demand for high-efficiency heat pump heating and cooling systems that reduce carbon emissions without using fossil fuels is rapidly increasing. LG Electronics estimates the European HVAC market size at approximately $13 billion this year and expects it to grow about 5% annually over the next three years.

LG Electronics is accelerating the establishment of a 'local completion system' in its HVAC business. It is building an efficient system that performs all stages?from research and development (R&D) to sales and maintenance?locally at the sales sites. As part of this effort, LG Electronics operates HVAC academies in 62 regions across 43 countries worldwide, including North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, training more than 30,000 HVAC engineers annually.

Lee Jae-sung, Vice President and Head of the Air Solution Business Division at LG Electronics' H&A Business Headquarters, said, "We will target the global air conditioning market, including Europe, with differentiated solutions such as developing decarbonization and electrification-responsive products specialized for regional climates."
