On the 14th (local time), at the final 3rd round of the LIV Golf Series Andaluc?a (total prize money $25 million) held at Real Club Valderrama (par 71, 6,999 yards) in Sotogrande, Spain, Garcia shot 5 under par to tie with Anirban Lahiri (India) at 5 under par 208, then secured the victory with a ‘winning par’ on the second hole of the playoff. This is his first win since joining LIV Golf. He received $4 million for the individual victory and an additional $750,000, which is 25% of the team victory prize, totaling $4.75 million (approximately 6.5 billion KRW).
At his home course, Garcia collected six birdies (one bogey). Starting with a birdie on the first hole, the 4th hole (par 5), he continued with ‘stepping stone birdies’ on the 7th and 9th holes, back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, and another birdie on the 14th hole (par 4). After five consecutive pars, he made a bogey on the final 3rd hole (par 3), which led to the playoff. Garcia secured a par on the second playoff hole, while Lahiri collapsed with a double bogey.
Garcia collected his first trophy in four years since the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour in October 2020. In an interview immediately after his victory, he said, "I am so happy. This win is one of the highlights of my career," and smiled brightly, adding, "Today, Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) won the Wimbledon tennis tournament. I also hope Spain wins against England in the Euro 2024 final tonight."
Anirban Lahiri (India), who led by 4 strokes the previous day, lost 2 strokes and settled for 2nd place. Tyrrell Hatton (England) finished 3rd (4 under par 209), while Patrick Reed (USA) and Louis Oosthuizen (South Africa) tied for 4th place (3 under par 210). Danny Lee tied for 6th place (2 under par 211), Bryson DeChambeau (USA) finished 9th (1 under par 212), and Jon Rahm (Spain) ended the tournament tied for 10th (even par 213). Anthony Kim (USA) collapsed with 11 over par, finishing tied for 49th place (14 over par 227) out of 54 participants.
