Ho continued, “Political terror is a threat to democracy and cannot be tolerated for any reason. Political terror is a product of extreme politics and hate politics,” and criticized, “Politicians have the duty to unify society through understanding and harmony.”

He also said, “The people of the Republic of Korea were deeply shocked by the political terror against former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung and People Power Party lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin,” emphasizing, “The People Power Party strongly condemns political terror that threatens democracy and will take the lead in efforts to eradicate extreme politics and hate politics.”

People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo wrote on Facebook, “Political terror is an act that destroys democracy and violence against the entire people,” adding, “Although the exact truth of the incident has not been revealed, it does not feel like a matter of another country.”

Ahn said, “In our country as well, hatred and verbal violence are intensifying amid extreme factional conflicts,” and remarked, “It is time to reflect on whether our politics is nurturing the ‘enemy of democracy.’”

Han Min-soo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a commentary, “Political terror is a serious challenge to democracy and can never be justified for any reason; it must never be allowed to take root,” and stated, “We condemn the political terror against former President Trump.”

Han added, “The Democratic Party has suffered from political terror against former leader Lee Jae-myung and has fought to prevent the ghost of horrific hate politics from roaming,” pledging, “The Democratic Party strongly condemns political terror that destroys democracy and will take the lead in eradicating hate politics.”

Former leader Lee Jae-myung, who experienced a stabbing attack earlier this year, wrote on social media, “I strongly condemn the assassination terror against candidate Trump,” emphasizing, “Violence and terror must never be tolerated for any reason.”

He also urged, “A thorough and resolute response is demanded for this serious crime that shakes the foundation of democracy.”
