Participation of Over 50 YouTubers Worldwide in New Project
Travel YouTuber 'GwakTube' (real name Gwak Junbin) participated in the survival program of 'MrBeast,' the YouTuber with the highest number of subscribers worldwide. MrBeast recently surpassed 300 million subscribers.
On the 14th, GwakTube uploaded a video titled "The Story of Appearing on the Channel with the Number 1 Subscribers Worldwide" on his YouTube channel. The video showed his departure to Boston, USA, to film the project and the process of participation.
Earlier in June, GwakTube posted on his social media, "I met MrBeast from the US and Korean Beast. The video will be uploaded in July. I had a great time filming." In the released video, GwakTube was seen departing from Incheon Airport, saying, "I was invited by MrBeast. I had randomly followed him on Instagram, and he said he was working on a huge project and invited me."
He continued, "I thought it was over because I didn’t get a reply, but then a YouTube staff member contacted me saying, 'We will prepare for you to go to the US,'" explaining how he got the opportunity to appear.
MrBeast’s team provided GwakTube with a business class seat. After nearly 14 hours, he arrived in Boston, USA. "During immigration, the officer asked why I came, so I said, 'To meet a friend.' When they asked the friend's name, I said 'MrBeast,' and I was immediately taken aside and talked to for 20 minutes. I think it must have been ridiculous even from my perspective," he recounted the situation.
He then took another flight from Boston, arriving about two hours later at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. He arrived in Greenville, known as MrBeast’s hometown and residence, where staff from MrBeast’s team were waiting at the local airport.
When GwakTube asked the staff about the schedule, the staff replied, "I can’t tell you the information. Anyway, no one else but that person (MrBeast) knows." The accommodation prepared by MrBeast included amenities with his name engraved, as well as gifts like AirPods Pro and chocolates. In the wardrobe, a T-shirt to be worn during the survival competition was already hung, with the number 1 million, presumably representing subscriber count, printed large on the back.
The next day, GwakTube headed to the filming site by bus with famous YouTubers from around the world. Japanese YouTuber 'Sushi Ramen Riku,' who has 10 million subscribers, sat next to GwakTube. Later, he greeted MrBeast by his nickname 'Genie,' and MrBeast warmly welcomed him back.
The participants gathered and competed in Jenga. GwakTube was eliminated in one day, saying, "The time was too long. After one game, we waited for 4 hours, and I was trapped for about 15 hours. I don’t think anyone even noticed I was out. I couldn’t do anything and was a super background figure. When everyone was playing together, there were already people who had become close, so it felt a bit like attending a university orientation."
He added, "Meeting MrBeast, I feel my abilities were quite lacking to do something great. It seems a bit hard to get close."
MrBeast created content in 2021 that brought the Netflix original series 'Squid Game' to life, achieving about 600 million views. Last month, he made headlines by building and donating 100 houses to a village suffering from poverty. In a recent interview with Time magazine, he revealed his annual income is about 600 to 700 million dollars.
GwakTube is a travel YouTuber with 2.03 million subscribers and has appeared in entertainment programs such as the 'Earth Mapul World Travel' series and 'Gwak Junbin’s World Article Restaurant.'
