Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held the graduation ceremony for the ‘Mapo Filial Piety School’ on the morning of the 13th at the Majung Hall of Mapo Central Library.
The ‘Mapo Filial Piety School’ is a newly launched program by Mapo-gu starting June 22nd, aimed at preparing for a super-aged society and spreading a culture of filial piety that fits the current times.
The graduation ceremony proceeded with the awarding of certificates by Mayor Park Gang-su, congratulatory speeches, commemorative photos, a filial piety talk concert, and a congratulatory performance by the traditional Korean music group Toris.
In particular, the filial piety talk concert was hosted by MC Jo Young-gu, with Mayor Park Gang-su and Professor Lee Ho-seon participating as panelists, delivering a witty and engaging interpretation of ‘filial piety,’ which might otherwise be perceived as classical.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “I hope this Filial Piety School will serve as an opportunity not only to honor parents but also to practice social filial piety with the mindset that ‘everyone is both a parent and a child.’ Mapo-gu will do its best to promote the value of filial piety and create a better living environment so that all Mapo residents can be happier.”
