Guest from adjacent room intrudes... Hotel provides master key
Hotel responds lukewarmly to apology and compensation, saying "Handle it yourself"
A post recently appeared on an online community claiming that a guest experienced unauthorized intrusion by another guest in a hotel room. According to a police investigation, the hotel had provided a master key.
On the 11th, a post titled "A stranger entered while I was sleeping at a hotel" was uploaded to an online community.
The incident occurred earlier on April 14 around 7 a.m. at a hotel in Jung-gu, Incheon. Mr. A and his wife were sleeping when Mr. B, a man from the adjacent room, entered their room. At the time, Mr. A and his wife were naked and not covered by a blanket.
Mr. A protested to the hotel staff and demanded an apology, but the hotel responded lukewarmly, saying, "Make a formal complaint according to the law."
However, according to the police investigation report attached by Mr. A, the hotel front desk gave Mr. B a master key, and Mr. B mistakenly entered Mr. A's room, thinking it was his own.

At the time of the incident, Mr. B had gone to a convenience store and, after his room door failed to open twice, he went to the hotel front desk to complain. It was found that the staff gave Mr. B the master key because they were busy.
The police stated, "This incident occurred due to the hotel's negligence, and since there is no criminal charge, the investigation will be closed without filing charges." The hotel staff promised Mr. A an apology and compensation for mental damages.
However, Mr. A lamented that after the police investigation ended, the hotel avoided contact with a brazen attitude, saying, "Handle it yourself." He said, "I recently managed to get in touch and said I would resolve it legally, and they told me to go ahead," expressing frustration at the hotel's shameless attitude.
Mr. A said, "My wife has undergone long-term psychiatric counseling and medication due to the shock of that day," and added, "If the criminal investigation does not work, I plan to file a civil suit against the hotel," seeking advice.
Regarding this story, netizens responded, "A master key, which is like a safe key, should never be given to an individual," and "I recommend trying everything you can do."
