Tzyang, Bruised Arm... Are You Okay? Overseas Fans Already Knew

Tzyang Reveals Assault and Threats by Jeon Yeonin
Legal Representative: "Assaults Frequent... Including Rape and Sexual Crimes"

Youtuber Jjuyang, who revealed that she was subjected to assault, threats, and financial extortion by her ex-lover for four years, was recently found to have conducted mukbang videos with bruises all over her arms in the past. Some overseas subscribers had suspected Jjuyang's assault victimization from before.

On the 12th, a post titled "Foreigners who have been worried about Jjuyang's bruises for a long time," spreading through online communities, shared screenshots of comments from overseas subscribers on Jjuyang's video from September last year.

At that time, Jjuyang conducted the broadcast with bruises on her right arm. Overseas subscribers expressed concern in the comments, saying, "There is a bruise on your arm, is something wrong?", "It looks like there is a bruise on your arm, hope you are okay. It feels like someone grabbed your arm hard," and "Is there a problem with your right arm? There is a bruise." These comments can still be seen in the video titled "120,000 reviews?! Cumulative sales of 1.4 million kg, top 0.1% Two-horn Hanwoo Mukbang" uploaded by Jjuyang on September 16 last year.

The fact of Jjuyang's victimization was revealed through the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute" (Gaseyeon). The recording released by Gaseyeon on the 10th included conversations among YouTubers such as "If this case breaks out, Jjuyang will have to retire," "Wouldn't it be better to just take a few thousand comfortably?" and "This should be worth 200 million won in cash."

As the controversy grew, Jjuyang confessed through a YouTube live broadcast the day before that she had been subjected to assault and threats by her ex-lover A. A, whom she met while on a college leave of absence, threatened to distribute illegal filming videos and assaulted her with weapons such as an umbrella. She also said she was extorted of at least 4 billion won due to not receiving proper settlement payments from broadcasts and was forced to work at entertainment establishments.

Jjuyang said, "I was almost beaten every day while broadcasting. When the broadcast grew and started doing well, A created an agency," adding, "We signed an unfair contract with a 7 (A) to 3 (Jjuyang) ratio, but even that was not honored, so I did not receive any advertising revenue."

The recording released by Jjuyang's side includes the voice of a man threatening with profanity and Jjuyang screaming as if being hit by something. Jjuyang's legal representative, lawyer Kim Taeyeon, explained that except for the high severity, only the usual level was disclosed. On the same day, on YTN NewsFM's "Wise Radio Life," lawyer Kim said, "It seems that the level of assault in the recording was frequent," and added, "Besides assault, there were also cases of rape and sexual crimes."

Meanwhile, the prosecution has assigned the case of complaints against YouTubers suspected of threatening or participating in threatening Jjuyang to the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. According to the disclosed voice recordings, the prosecution plans to investigate whether the YouTubers planned to extort money from Jjuyang.
