"Kim Geon-hee Also Suspected of Managing Comment Team"
"Legal Issues Including Public Officials Act and Obstruction of Business"
Former leader of the National Innovation Party, Cho Kuk, stated that he would add the suspicion of operating a so-called 'comment team' to the already proposed 'Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Act' in relation to the allegations that Han Dong-hoon, the People Power Party's candidate for party leader, operated such a team during his tenure as Minister of Justice.
On the morning of the 12th, Cho said on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' regarding the suspicion that Han operated a comment team while serving as Minister of Justice, "It is naturally a legal issue," adding, "Violation of the Public Officials Act is obvious, and various charges such as obstruction of business are problematic."
He said, "I saw a message disclosed by former People Power Party Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan that said 'Reported to the Minister of Justice,'" and added, "Then, of course, through investigation, it is necessary to examine who managed the organization of the private comment team, who covered the costs, and when and how many times reports were made to Minister Han at the time." He continued, "Former Supreme Council member Jang made a very critical attack. Usually, judging by Han's style, he should have immediately filed a complaint against Jang, but he has not yet," reinforcing the suspicion.
Former leader Cho also argued that the suspicion regarding First Lady Kim Geon-hee's operation of a comment team should be investigated. He said, "Isn't it written that there is suspicion that First Lady Kim mobilized a comment team to attack candidate Han?" and pointed out, "That means the First Lady herself is implying the suspicion that she operated that comment team." He added, "In the past, through the Druking investigation, former Governor Kim Kyung-soo of Gyeongnam served a prison sentence due to comments and such. Both individuals should undergo criminal investigation."
He continued, "If the existing investigative teams of the police and prosecution start investigating this issue, there would be no need for a special prosecutor act," but added, "Since I have never heard that existing investigative agencies have conducted investigations into the suspicion of operating a private comment team, I think the investigation should be conducted at the special prosecutor level."
