Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 12th that Songam Village in Heungdeok-myeon has been selected for the "2025 Rural Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project" contest hosted by the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy Era.
With this selection, a total project cost of approximately 2.1 billion KRW, including up to 1.5 billion KRW in national funding, has been secured.

Songam Village in Heungdeok-myeon, selected for this project, has 75% of its houses with slate roofs, and most of the houses are over 30 years old and deteriorated.
To ensure the basic living standards of residents in this underdeveloped rural area, from 2025 to 2028, projects will be carried out including ▲ expansion of living and safety infrastructure ▲ improvement of residential environment ▲ village environment enhancement ▲ human care and strengthening of residents' capabilities.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, "We will do our best to improve the basic quality of life for the residents of Songam Village in Heungdeok-myeon and create a safe and pleasant village to realize a better Gochang."
