District Mayor Park Il-ha: "I Will Successfully Lead the Priority Projects"

Dongjak-gu, Organizational Restructuring Including Establishment of Future Education Bureau and Youth and Adolescents Division

Seoul Dongjak-gu (District Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 12th that it will carry out an organizational restructuring effective on the 15th, establishing 1 bureau and 3 departments, reorganizing into 2 divisions and 1 promotion team, and operating with 7 bureaus (35 departments and 1 promotion team).

This organizational restructuring aims to secure strong driving force for the successful completion of key policies promoted by the district, maximize organizational capabilities by organizing departments based on similar tasks and functions, and realize "Dongjak, the city of highest value."

Accordingly, the district will establish the Future Education Bureau, placing the Education Policy Department, Early Childhood Care Department, Child and Women Department, and Youth and Adolescents Department within the bureau to remove work barriers between departments and build an organic cooperative relationship.

In particular, the newly established Youth and Adolescents Department within the bureau will focus on supporting the youth population, which accounts for 33% (about 123,000 people) of the local population, taking charge of discovering youth policies, operating youth rental housing programs, and handling youth employment-related tasks. Additionally, the previously separated departments managing public property and public facilities have been unified into the Property Management Department to enable efficient integrated management.

The Economic Policy Department has newly established the Job Policy Department by separating job-related tasks to continuously expand job welfare, including discovering Dongjak-gu type jobs covering all generations and expanding the functions of the Employment Support Center.

Furthermore, to manage the workflow from budget formulation to settlement in a one-stop manner, tasks previously divided between the Planning and Budget Department and the Finance Department have been integrated into the Budget and Accounting Department. Areas requiring close cooperation with each neighborhood, such as discovering small parking lots and cleaning up illegal advertisements, will be handled by the Administrative Autonomy Bureau, which oversees neighborhood administration.

District Mayor Park Il-ha said, "We will secure driving force for the second half of the year through this organizational restructuring and successfully lead Dongjak-gu's key projects," adding, "Through this, we will surely leap forward as 'Dongjak, the city of highest value,' which residents take pride in."
