Mapo-gu Expands Reward System for Identifying At-Risk Households

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced that it will expand the reward system for reporting vulnerable households in order to create a Mapo with no welfare blind spots and a grassroots welfare system.

Mapo-gu has added and expanded the existing target vulnerable households of "basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class" to include "single-parent families," "emergency welfare recipients," and "Seoul-type basic security or Seoul-type emergency welfare recipients."

Additionally, the eligible reporters for rewards now include "Dong Community Security Council members," who can closely observe local residents, to enable the discovery of more vulnerable households.

If a discovered neighbor in need is selected as a vulnerable household, they can receive a reward of 50,000 won in Onnuri gift certificates per case, up to 300,000 won annually. However, cases where the reporter is a mandatory reporter or a subject under Article 13, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Use and Provision of Social Security Benefits and the Discovery of Beneficiaries, or Article 7, Paragraph 3 of the Emergency Welfare Support Act, or where the reported vulnerable household is already selected, or where the reporter reports the vulnerable household’s party or relatives, are excluded from receiving the reward.

If you discover a resident in need of help, you can report online via Mapo-gu Office’s website “Hope Stepping Stones,” KakaoTalk channel “Silppuri Welfare Talk,” or the “Welfare Crisis Alert App,” and it is also possible at the local Dong Community Service Center.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “To minimize welfare blind spots and realize a detailed grassroots welfare system, not only the efforts of Mapo-gu but also the cooperation of local residents are necessary. I hope everyone pays close attention to whether there are neighbors in difficulty around them, and immediately report to Mapo-gu when discovering vulnerable households.”
