100m Waterslide at 'Nowon Waterpark'... Operating July 19 - August 17 with Free Admission for Nowon Residents... 9,000㎡ Outdoor Pool at Seoul National University of Science and Technology Stadium Featuring 3 Pools, 100m Waterslide, Lazy River, Paddle Boats, and More for All Ages... Strict Safety Measures with 20 Lifeguards and Thorough Water Quality Management
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate the 'Nowon Water Park' to allow residents to enjoy summer vacations close to home.
The district's representative summer project, 'Nowon Water Park,' is set up on a 9,000㎡ area at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology playground, creating an urban summer retreat where the whole family can enjoy water activities together.
Filled with various water play facilities such as three outdoor swimming pools, a lazy river, two air slides, and ten handle boats, Nowon Water Park features a water slide (water sled) that was loved by visitors last year, extended by 20 meters to a total length of 100 meters, offering thrilling excitement and fun.
Entering its second year of operation, the district has reflected visitors' feedback from last year to enhance safety and convenience. First, to ensure the safety of visitors waiting their turn on the water slide under the hot sun-heated ground, a 'shaded staircase' was installed at the water slide entrance.
To alleviate discomfort caused by water pooling on the ground, additional 'plastic mats' were installed between the playground floor and artificial turf to improve drainage. Eco-friendly wooden decks were constructed along the edges and entrance stairs of each pool to prevent slipping accidents.
Furthermore, 20 professionally certified safety personnel are stationed at all times to strictly manage usage according to the depth of each pool, ensuring perfect safety management. Efforts to maintain cleanliness include operating dedicated filters and measuring water quality every two hours, with water quality status posted for residents to check directly.
In addition, shade structures, tents, raised platforms, and parasols are placed near convenience facilities such as changing rooms, showers, and snack bars to support visitors' rest and comfort. The newly added 'mobile accessible restroom' is expected to greatly improve convenience for disabled visitors to the water park.
Outdoor swimming pools, handle boats, and other water play facilities are free for Nowon-gu residents. Visitors from other areas are charged an entrance fee of 2,000 KRW. Separate fees apply for the 100m water slide, raised platforms, tents, and other amenities. For detailed information, please refer to the Nowon-gu Office website.
Meanwhile, the district operates small-scale water play areas in a total of eight parks across different zones. Facility-type water play areas are available at six locations including Gongneung-dong Park, Neutiul Park, and Danggogae Park, while air bounce-type water play areas are prepared for opening at Satgatbong Neighborhood Park (Junggye 4-dong) and Sanggye Neighborhood Park (Sanggye 8-dong).
The 'facility-type water play areas' include mist tunnels and combined water play structures, while the 'air bounce-type water play areas' are mobile leisure facilities combining air-filled bounce structures with water play features.
Especially, the air bounce-type water play areas feature large pools with refreshing water jets from floor fountains and huge air slides, allowing visitors to enjoy diverse water activities.
Operating periods and hours vary depending on the type of facility. For water quality and facility management, the parks are closed every Monday and also during heavy rain, so please check the website before visiting. Since there is no parking space at the park water play areas, it is recommended to use walking or public transportation.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “A record-breaking heatwave is expected this summer. We will ensure perfect safety and water quality management so that residents can enjoy a pleasant and safe summer close to home.”
