Dobong-gu Recruiting Cafes to Participate in 'Daldal Shelter' Accessible to Delivery Platform Workers

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is recruiting cafes to participate in the ‘Daldal Shelter,’ a resting place where delivery platform workers in Dobong-gu can comfortably take breaks, until July 26.

‘Daldal Shelter’ refers to cafes where delivery platform workers can use restrooms and other resting spaces, and purchase beverages with vouchers provided by the district.

Previously, the district applied for the ‘Platform Workers Workplace Improvement Support Project’ led by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2024 to improve the poor working conditions of delivery platform workers, and the project is now underway.

Eligible applicants are cafes located in Dobong-gu with lease or sales contracts valid for more than one year from the announcement date, capable of providing resting spaces for delivery platform workers, and offering parking and point accumulation services.

A district official stated, “We plan to select four locations by region, considering accessibility and space utilization for delivery platform workers. Also, to revitalize the local commercial area, we will select individually operated cafes rather than franchise cafes.”

Cafes wishing to apply should check the announcement on the Dobong-gu website by July 26, prepare the application form and required documents, and submit them via email to the person in charge or visit the Dobong-gu Office Regional Economy Division in person.

Selected cafes will receive support for voucher usage through an agreement, which delivery platform workers can use.

The vouchers will be provided to delivery platform workers who participate in the district’s ‘Safe Driving Pledge Campaign.’

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I hope delivery platform workers can freely rest at ‘Daldal Cafe,’ and we will continue to create an environment where delivery platform workers can operate safely and foster a win-win culture that protects the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.”

The district is making significant efforts to improve the labor environment for delivery platform workers. For example, last September, the district renovated a directly managed mobile worker rest area under Dobong Station. The rest area is equipped with massage chairs, foot massagers, blood pressure monitors for health care, as well as computers and fax machines for office work. Additionally, there is a resting space furnished with a TV, air purifier, smartphone chargers, and a refrigerator.

They are also dedicated to safety education. Last month, the first safety training session was held for 25 delivery platform workers, with plans to conduct two to three additional safety training sessions this year.
