Goryeong County Supports "Cool Summer" Program for Heatwave-Vulnerable Households

Goryeong-gun Community Security Council Distributes Goods Worth 20 Million Won to 200 Households

The Goryeong-gun Community Social Security Council (Co-chairs: Lee Namcheol, Kim Jongtae) announced on the 11th that it will provide summer supply kits worth a total of 20 million KRW to 200 low-income households vulnerable to heat waves, as part of the 'Cool Summer Support' project, a 2024 initiative by the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea.

The 'Cool Summer Support Project' is jointly carried out every year by the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea and the Goryeong-gun Community Social Security Council to prevent heatwave damage among low-income households vulnerable to extreme heat.

This year's summer supply kits, each worth about 100,000 KRW, include items helpful for the summer such as bamboo fiber blankets, probiotics, Misugaru, cool sleeves, and cool scarves. The kits will be delivered to recipients through the local community social security councils in each town and township.

On this day, County Governor Lee Namcheol personally visited households vulnerable to heat waves with Chairman Kim Jongtae to deliver the supplies, listen to their difficulties in coping with the heat, and offer words of comfort.

Chairman Kim Jongtae said, "We hope that this support will be of some help to households vulnerable to heat waves as they endure the hot summer."

Goryeong-gun Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "With the heat wave added to the monsoon season, this is an especially difficult time. I hope that by checking in on our neighbors and looking out for one another, everyone can have a safe and healthy summer together."
