Changwon Special City Wins Ministry of the Interior and Safety Award for Proactive Administration Comprehensive Evaluation for Third Consecutive Year, Only City in Gyeongnam

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 'Active Administration Merit Award Ceremony' held at the Government Sejong Complex on the 11th.

This achievement is the result of earning an 'Excellent' grade in the 2024 (2023 performance) Comprehensive Evaluation of Active Administration for Local Governments conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). Since the start of the comprehensive evaluation, Changwon Special City is honored to be the only city in the province to be selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for three consecutive years.


This evaluation, which targeted 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan, 226 basic), comprehensively assessed 18 indicators across five major categories last year: establishment of active administration promotion plans, institutional efforts, system utilization, best practices, and citizen satisfaction. Changwon City received high scores across all areas, proving its capabilities as an outstanding institution for active administration.


Last year, Changwon Special City piloted an active administration mileage system based on its 'Active Administration Implementation Plan,' which consists of five major strategies and eleven key tasks, to strengthen the commitment to active administration within the public sector. The city was recognized for its efforts to spread a culture of active administration by communicating with citizens, such as selecting outstanding cases and public officials through online citizen voting.


In particular, the case of 'establishing a seamless welfare support network by shortening the investigation period for households in welfare blind spots' was highly praised by the committee for its proactive and practical implementation of welfare administration.


Jang Geumyong, the First Vice Mayor, said, "With this valuable achievement, our city has firmly established itself as a leading city in active administration," and added, "Taking this award as an opportunity, we will continue to break away from conventional practices and regulations and strive even harder to pursue active administration that citizens can directly experience and find happiness in."
