Total 2621 Trillion in June... 22 Trillion Increase in 3 Months
LG Energy Solution Decreases by 1.629 Trillion
In the second quarter of this year, it was found that the market capitalization of 6 out of 10 domestic stock items decreased.
On the 11th, Korea CXO Research Institute, a corporate analysis specialist, surveyed the market capitalization of 2,702 domestic stock items excluding preferred stocks, and as of the end of June, the total was recorded at 2,621 trillion won. The market capitalization increased by 22 trillion won (0.8%) from 2,599 trillion won at the end of March. During the same period, the number of stocks surpassing 1 trillion won in market capitalization increased by 10, from 263 to 273.
However, looking at individual stocks, 1,647 stocks (61%) saw a decrease in market capitalization in the second quarter, which was more than the 938 stocks (34.7%) that increased. This is interpreted as a kind of optical illusion caused by the increase in market capitalization size due to the rise in large-cap stocks such as SK Hynix and Hyundai Motor. 117 stocks (4.3%) were newly listed or had no change in market capitalization in the second quarter.
The stock with the largest increase in market capitalization in the second quarter was SK Hynix. Over three months, its market capitalization rose from 133.2244 trillion won to 172.1725 trillion won, an increase of 38.9481 trillion won (29.2%). Other stocks with significant market capitalization increases included Hyundai Motor (up 12.4909 trillion won), Kia (up 7.3964 trillion won), HD Hyundai Electric (up 4.077 trillion won), Alteogen (up 4.4436 trillion won), Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (up 3.9321 trillion won), Hanmi Semiconductor (3.6977 trillion won), LS Electric (up 3.681 trillion won), KB Financial Group (up 3.6315 trillion won), and Samyang Foods (up 3.4538 trillion won).
On the other hand, the stock with the largest decrease in market capitalization in the second quarter was LG Energy Solution. Its market capitalization fell from 92.43 trillion won at the end of March to 76.041 trillion won at the end of June, a decrease of 16.029 trillion won. Other stocks with large market capitalization decreases included EcoPro BM (down 8.8999 trillion won), Samsung SDI (down 8.0454 trillion won), Samsung Biologics (down 7.402 trillion won), LG Chem (down 6.6003 trillion won), HLB (down 6.1069 trillion won), Kakao (down 5.8807 trillion won), and Samsung Electronics (down 5.3728 trillion won).
Among stocks with a market capitalization of over 1 trillion won, the highest market capitalization growth rate in the second quarter was Silicon Two. Silicon Two's market capitalization increased by 302.2% (2.1496 trillion won), from 711.3 billion won at the end of March to 2.861 trillion won at the end of June. Stocks newly entering the top 100 in market capitalization in the second quarter included Samyang Foods (180th → 75th), LS Electric (115th → 58th), Korea Gas Corporation (130th → 80th), LS (104th → 85th), and Korea Financial Group (102nd → 99th).
