The KOSPI surpassed the 2890 level early in the session, reaching its highest point in 2 years and 5 months, buoyed by gains in the U.S. market overnight.

Highest in 2.5 Years On the 11th, the KOSPI index started the session at 2888.76, up 20.77 points (0.72%) from the previous trading day (2867.99), supported by the US S&P surpassing 5600 and the Nasdaq reaching a new high. As of 9:30 a.m. on the 11th, the KOSPI stood at 2891.57, up 23.58 points (0.82%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners and institutions are net buyers with 91.3 billion KRW and 6.8 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net sellers with 21.1 billion KRW.


By sector, securities are up 2.48%. Additionally, finance, medical precision, and machinery sectors are rising more than 1%. Conversely, food and beverages, paper and wood sectors are slightly down.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics is trading at 88,300 KRW, up 500 KRW (0.57%) from the previous day. SK Hynix is up 2.72%. KB Financial Group and Shinhan Financial Group are also rising more than 2%. On the other hand, LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and Celltrion are down within 1%.


The KOSDAQ recorded 859.76, up 1.21 points (0.14%).


By investor type, individuals are net buyers with 41.7 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions are net sellers with 31.1 billion KRW and 10.5 billion KRW respectively.


By sector, entertainment and culture, chemicals, and manufacturing are slightly up. Conversely, other services, pharmaceuticals, and medical precision instruments are down within 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM traded at 189,300 KRW, down 200 KRW (0.11%) from the previous day. Alteogen is down 3.33%, and HLB is down 2.13%. Meanwhile, Samchundang Pharm, HPSP, and Classys are up more than 1%.
