Seongdong-gu, Air Conditioner Cleaning for Housing-Vulnerable Households

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) started the ‘Air Conditioner Clean Service’ project this month on the 8th, targeting vulnerable households with installed air conditioners.

The ‘Air Conditioner Clean Service’ is a project that cleans the main unit and outdoor unit of air conditioners for vulnerable households such as elderly living alone and people with disabilities who have difficulty cleaning and washing their air conditioners.

This is expected to greatly alleviate daily inconveniences for vulnerable groups.

The project is carried out in connection with the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ project. After a full survey of 597 households that received Chakchak Seongdong services in the past two years, cleaning services are provided to 227 households that requested air conditioner cleaning.

Specialized air conditioner cleaning companies visit the site to check whether the unit operates normally, disassemble parts, clean them with dedicated cleaning agents, dry and reassemble them, and verify proper functioning. This provides a healthy and comfortable environment, which is expected to receive positive responses from the residents.

The ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ project is Seongdong-gu’s representative community-based policy that visits homes to resolve minor daily inconveniences such as repairing insect screens, fixing electrical facilities, replacing faucets, and installing gas timers.

The beneficiaries are vulnerable households among basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, people with disabilities, national merit recipients, and emergency support recipients. In 2023, 849 simple home repair services were provided to 533 households.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We hope residents can spend a cool and healthy summer by providing air conditioner cleaning services that are difficult to do at home,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of life for residents through meticulous policy support that cares for each and every vulnerable resident so that no one is left behind.”
