Jungnang-gu Grants 3 Days Special Leave to Public Officials with Less Than 5 Years of Service

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) recently announced the implementation of a "Newcomer Special Leave" to boost the morale of low-tenure public officials who frequently leave their posts and to encourage long-term service.

On the 11th, the district will promulgate the "Partial Amendment to the Seoul Metropolitan City Jungnang-gu Local Public Officials Service Ordinance," which includes provisions for granting the "Newcomer Special Leave." The amendment mainly grants 3 days of special leave to public officials with a tenure of 1 year or more but less than 5 years.

Until now, special long-term service leave was granted only to public officials with 5 or more years of service, excluding low-tenure officials from eligibility. To address this, the district has prepared the "Newcomer Special Leave" exclusively for low-tenure officials to foster an efficient public service culture where employees work when they work and rest when they rest.

The special leave can be used once during the tenure period of 1 year or more but less than 5 years.

Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi stated, "I hope low-tenure public officials actively utilize the special leave to achieve a balance between work and rest and adapt stably to public service life." He added, "We will continue to strive to create an efficient public service culture to boost employee morale and enhance welfare."

The district is also actively supporting the capacity building of low-tenure public officials. On the 4th and 5th, basic job training covering integrity, budgeting, contracting, and expenditure was conducted for about 90 newly appointed public officials this year.

Additionally, in August, the district plans to promote "Todak Todak Jungnang Mentoring," which supports communication and exchange between senior and junior public officials to help new officials smoothly adapt to the organization.
