The KBS Symphony Orchestra announced that it has appointed Lee Geon-su, Chairman of Dong-A Elecom Co., Ltd., as the 5th Chairman of the Board, effective the 11th.
New Chairman Lee Geon-su is a first-generation entrepreneur in the Korean telecommunications sector. He played a key role in the development of Korean telecommunications technology, including the localization of the Time Division Exchange (TDX), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), and the world's first commercialization of LTE and 5G.
The KBS Symphony Orchestra stated, "The year 2024 will be a significant turning point for the orchestra, with the appointment of a new music director and the inauguration of a new president scheduled," adding, "The appointment of new Chairman Lee Geon-su is expected to further accelerate the growth and development of the orchestra amid these changes."
The 5th Board of Directors includes Kim Dae-jin (President of Korea National University of Arts), Kim Kwang-il (Vice Chairman of MBK Partners), Kim Deok-sul (Chairman of Unistory Asset Management Co., Ltd.), and Lee Woo-young (Professor at Seoul National University School of Law).
