BMW Recalls Over 390,000 Vehicles in the US Due to Airbag Defect

On the 10th (local time), according to major U.S. media, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that BMW is recalling over 390,000 vehicles due to the possibility of airbag inflator (the device that inflates the airbag) explosions. The affected vehicles include certain sedans and sports wagons.

NHTSA explained that if the airbag inflator explodes, metal fragments could be propelled toward the driver and passengers, potentially causing death or injury.

On the same day, NHTSA also announced that Chrysler is recalling 332,000 Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles in the U.S. due to airbag issues. According to NHTSA, the front seat airbags in these vehicles may not function properly.
